SuperFd Performance Nutrition is the leading provider of food services for professional sports teams in 12 major markets across the U.S. and Canada.
When SuperFd started operations in L.A. providing high-quality, nutritious meals to the LA Kings, the local NHL team, Amped Kitchens “ended up being the community we were looking for.”
“Amped Kitchens allows us to be autonomous and control everything,” says Chef Rah-Zah LaTour. “They run a pretty strict facility. Everything at Amped Kitchens is clean and up to our high standards. They’re always making sure the tenants have a high-quality, safe work environment.”
Meet Amped Kitchen tenant SuperFd… and see how their business is growing!
Tell us about SuperFd.
SuperFd has been around for eight years, and we have been in Los Angeles for the last two. We provide high-quality, nutritious meals for major-league sports teams, pre-game, post-game and in-flight when they’re on the road. Our customers want to boost player performance. They also support healthy eating, active lifestyles and sustainable practices but don’t want to sacrifice tasty, satisfying food.
What inspired you to start your business?
There was a need to transform the nutrition being delivered to professional sports teams. We saw firsthand how catering could enhance player performance. Starting on the East Coast with the Washington Capitals and the Washington Nationals we have expanded our business to Los Angeles (and beyond) so more teams and athletes can experience what we do better.
Where do you sell your products?
We sell directly to the teams. This week alone we are providing meals to the Lightning, the Avalanche, the Bakersfield Condors, and we have in-flight food for the Kings.

Did you look at building your business in your own facility in Los Angeles and what happened?
I did. But, everything I wanted to put into my own facility was already at Amped Kitchens. It made a lot more sense to be a tenant here as opposed to building everything from the ground up.
Why did you choose Amped Kitchens?
It just made sense. Amped Kitchens has everything ready to go. Also, it was Amped’s convenience and professionalism. Here, the floors are clean, there is no food or trash building up, no flies everywhere. Amped is diligent about keeping things immaculate, making sure that tenants have a clean and safe work environment. The management maintains the facility 24/7 so there’s always somebody here available to assist you.
Also, everyone here has been so responsive to all the questions I had about health code, storage, and all the things a chef is concerned about. Amped really has everything.
What has being at Amped Kitchen enable your business to do better?
Amped Kitchen has enabled us to scale. When we started, it was just one employee — me. Since then, I’ve hired nine people in nine months. We’ve been able to grow quickly and efficiently.
The Amped team has been amazingly helpful. I’m always confident my ingredients will be handled correctly when they are delivered and the people here take care of the larger facility. We decided to lease at Amped Kitchens for peace of mind. It’s given me that–and the ability to think about getting additional space in the very near future. Because of what we can do at Amped, we’ve been able to expanded to cater to another sports team very quickly. We’ve had the opportunity to work closely with the L.A. Football Club in their championship season and look forward to growing that relationship more and bringing more championship cups to the city of L.A.
What does being an Amped tenant mean to you and your business?
At Amped we were able to join a community that wants us to be successful. Last week Amped hosted economic development officials from the City of Los Angeles, who gave us a run down of benefits available to us as entrepreneurs.. Amped sends us weekly emails about what financing opportunities and used equipment for sale. Amped resources are a godsend. Not only is that the biggest reason why we’re here, but it’s the biggest reason why we’ve been so happy with the space.
What should other food entrepreneurs know about Amped Kitchens?
For anybody who is getting started, whether a new entrepreneur or a seasoned businessperson, the resources at Amped Kitchens are invaluable. For us, having the ability to partner with a facility like Amped Kitchens removes a lot of worry. From logistics to the cleanliness of the building, to available resources–it takes a lot of things off your plate. Plus everyone is really friendly.
Have you done business collaborations with other Amped tenants?
Yes. There are several different businesses here I’ve partnered with. At the end of last season, I created charcuterie boards for several people in the L.A. King’s facility, from president Luc Robitaille to Rob Blake, the general manager, to all the players’ staff and trainers. I gave them all charcuterie boards withanother Amped tenant’s plant based cheeses. Everybody loved it! There’s also Apryl’s Life in a Bottle, she makes all-natural juices and ginger shots that the team lives by. There’s a real community here at Amped. It’s a perfect fit for us.
